An Important Announcement

Posted October 24, 2007

Effective immediately, this site will no longer be updated.

I have been struggling with this decision for the past year now. I have very tardy in posting new information regarding James and the projects he is involved in for the past year or so. It is not because I don't care, or that I'm only posting things for the "glory" of being able to say that I own one of the few JF fan sites out there. The reason behind my decision is simple: my son.

Nathan has Autism. We knew early on that he was different and at the age of 2, we started doing our own research into various therapies. After 3 1/2 years of interventions, he is now fully included in regular Kindergarten class.

When we started interventions, I was so focused on helping him get better that "extra curricular" activities got swept to the side - including jamesfrainonline.com. Now that Nathan is doing well, my attention has shifted once more. I now focus my energy in helping other parents whose children have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Myself and other parents in my area decided to form the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the National Autism Association. The purpose of our group is to share information with parents that Autism is treatable. Too often, when parents are given a diagnosis for their child, the clinicians usually tell them to do ABA therapy and that their child will likely require institutionalization. We believe differently. We believe that utilizing a comprehensive program, including traditional therapies such as speech and occupational therapy and alternative interventions such as a biomedical program, can improve the quality of life for the entire family. Some children even lose their diagnosis of Autism.

So while I will not be updating this site, I do plan on keeping it up so that people can check out the photo gallery (it took me forever to put all those pictures out there!). Perhaps sometime in the future, I can start posting news items again. I'd like to keep that option open since I don't know what the future holds for me.

To get the latest news on James and his projects, I highly recommend you head on over to AboutJamesFrain.com run by fellow webmistress and good friend, Eileen. She is really on top of things and I'm sure you'll enjoy her warm wit and sense of humor.

Until next time-
Lisa
